Vision, Style, & Beliefs
Bible Believing Church
Two keys define every church: their beliefs and their style.

If their beliefs are biblical, but you don't like the style, you won't go. If the style is good, but the beliefs are faulty, you will be led down a wrong path.

At Calvary Temple we think church should be enjoyable to attend as well as biblically solid. We invite you to explore these topics to help you understand us better and to assist you in your spiritual growth.

Our Vision

Our vision can be summarized by this phrase, "Connecting People."

We are a multi-cultural church that is committed to connecting people to God through worship and discipleship, to each other through fellowship and ministry, and to the lost through evangelism.

The five core values that enable us to fulfill our vision of connecting people are:

  • worship
  • fellowship
  • discipleship
  • evangelism
  • ministry

A strong commitment to these five values enable us to grow warmer through fellowship, deeper through discipleship, stronger through worship, broader through ministry, and larger through evangelism.

Our Style

  We are a Worshipping Church
"...The Father seeks worshippers...and His worshippers must worship Him in spirit and in truth". John 4:23 -24

A couple words to describe Calvary Temple's worship style are "Celebration" (Psalm 122:1) and "Inspiration" (Isaiah 40:31). We believe a church service is a celebration to look forward to, and a gathering that has benefits for the week to come.

We are a Fellowshipping Church
"You are a member of God's very own family and you belong in God's household with every other Christian." Eph. 2:19 (LB)

The Bible calls the church a family - the kind of family God wants everyone to experience. You can meet quality friends, find a safe place to belong, and become a better person as you spend time with other growing Christians.

We are a Bible Teaching Church
"Grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 3:18

"(God has given) ...some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of ministry, so that the Body of Christ may be built up until we all...become mature...like Christ." Ephesians 4:11-13

Only one source of information has been time tested for thousands of years, claims to be the Word of God, and has the credentials to back it up - and that's the Bible. Why base your life on anything else? We are proud to present Bible lessons in all of our departments and services. The messages are practical and helpful teachings from scripture. They can benefit your individual life, your family, your career, and of course your relationship with God.

We are an Evangelizing Church
"The Lord ...is patient, not wanting anyone to perish, but wants everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

"Go out into the country...and urge anyone you find to come in, so that my House will be full." Luke 14:23 (LB)

God loves people and so do we. We open our doors to all ages, races, and backgrounds. We believe the only way people will ultimately find fulfillment is to know God and follow his ways. We continue to grow because week after week more and more people discover this truth for themselves.

We are a Ministering Church
"By this shall all men know that you are my disciples - that you have love for one another." John 13:35

We offer programs for all ages, and strive to show our love in need meeting ways. Hundreds of people have found help through our various programs, and hundreds more have discovered meaningful places of service.

Our Beliefs

What does it mean to be a Christian?

What it doesn't mean:
Being born into a Christian family ("My mother was a Christian, so...")

Sincerity ("It doesn't matter what you believe, just be sincere.")

Morality ("I'll give up all my bad habits.")

Good Works ("I'll work real hard and earn it.")

Being Religious, being Baptized, or becoming a church member ("I'll be religious and go to church.")

What it does mean? What does the Bible say?
Jesus Christ said, "I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE. NO ONE COMES TO THE FATHER, EXCEPT THROUGH ME!" John 14:6
"God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were still separated from God by sin, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

"God is on one side and all people are on the other side, and Christ Jesus is between them to bring them together, by giving His life for all mankind." I Timothy 2:5

It means establishing a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Asking Christ to forgive your sins, and committing yourself to his leadership in your life.

What do I need to do?

  1. ADMIT that God has not been first place in your life and ask Him to forgive your sins.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from every wrong." I John 1:9
  2. BELIEVE that Jesus died to pay for your sins and that He rose again on Easter, and is alive today.

"If you confess that Jesus is your Lord, and you believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

"Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name (Jesus) by which we must be saved." Acts 4:12
  3. ACCEPT God's free gift of salvation. Don't try to earn it.

"For it is by grace you are saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2: 8, 9 Our relationship to God is not restored by anything we do, but on the basis of what Jesus already did for us!
  4. INVITE Jesus Christ to come into your life and be the director (Lord) of your life.

"To all who receive Him, He gives the right to become children of God. All we need to do is to trust Him to save us. All those who believe this are reborn! not a physical rebirth...but from the will of God!" John 1:12 - 13

"Jesus says, 'Listen! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in...'". Rev. 3:30

You can take these steps by praying a simple prayer of commitment to God:

"Dear Jesus, thank you for making me and loving me, even when I've ignored you and gone my own way. I realize I need you in my life and I'm sorry for my sins. I ask you to forgive me. Thank you for dying on the cross for me. Please help me to understand it more. As much as I know how, I want to follow you from now on. Please come into my life and make me a new person inside. I accept your gift of salvation. Please help me to grow now as a Christian. Amen"

"Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

If you have prayed this prayer and would like to talk to one of the pastors at the church, please call (925) 458-9100.

  What We Believe
  • THE HOLY SCRIPTURES - We believe the Bible is God-inspired. The authoritative rule of faith and conduct for man. (II Timothy 3:15-17, I Thessalonians 2:13)

  • THE ONE TRUE GOD - We believe in the one true God who has revealed Himself as eternally existent, and is the Triune Father, Son and Holy Ghost. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 28:19)
  • THE DEITY OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST - We believe Jesus Christ is God. His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death and resurrection from the dead, and the exaltation to the right hand of God the Father declares His deity. (John 20:28-29)
  • THE FALL OF MAN - We believe that man was created by God, but that by voluntary disobedience, he fell from perfection. (Romans 5:12)
  • THE SALVATION OF MAN - We believe man's only hope of salvation is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (John 3:16)
  • THE ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH - We believe that water baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work. We believe communion is a celebration and sharing of our Lord's divine nature, suffering and death and a proclamation of His second coming. (Mark 16:16, I Corinthians 11:26)
  • THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe that the Baptism in the Holy spirit is for every believer. It endows the believer with power to witness. (Acts 2:4)
  • THE EVIDENCE OF THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT - We believe the baptism of believers in the Holy Spirit is witnessed by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God gives them utterance. (Acts 2:4)
  • SANCTIFICATION - We believe each believer is called to a life of separation from evil and dedication unto God resulting in a holy lifestyle. (Romans 12:1)
  • THE CHURCH AND ITS MISSION - We believe the body of Christ is responsible to God to carry out its threefold mission: to evangelize the lost, corporately worship God, and to perfect the saints. (Mark 16:15,16)
  • THE MINISTRY - We believe God has divinely placed various gifts within the body of Christ for the purpose of meeting needs. (Ephesians 4:11-16)
  • DIVINE HEALING - We believe an integral part of the Gospel message is deliverance from sickness and disease. (Matthew 8:16-17, James 5:14-16)
  • THE SECOND COMING OF CHRIST - We believe that the Second Coming of Christ is personal and imminent. (I Thessalonians 4:16-17)
  • THE MILLENNIAL REIGN OF CHRIST - We believe that the Second Coming of Christ is followed by the visible return of Christ with his Saints to reign on the Earth for 1,000 years. (Revelation 19:11-14, 20:1-6)
  • THE FINAL JUDGMENT - We believe there will be a final judgment in which those names that are not found written in the Book of Life will be judged according to their works and consigned to everlasting punishment. (Revelation 20:11-15)
  • THE NEW HEAVEN AND THE NEW EARTH - We believe God will establish a new heaven and new earth following final judgment. (Revelation 21:22)
